What to Expect

  • Consultation: You will have a consultation with a Bellamedica provider. They will assess your skin type, hair color, and medical history to determine if you are a suitable candidate for laser hair removal.
  • Preparation: On the day of the procedure, we ask that you shave the area to be treated. The laser is adjusted based on color, thickness, and location of the hair being treated as well as your skin color.
  • Eye Protection: Both you and the practitioner will wear protective eyewear to protect your eyes form the laser light.
  • Application of Gel: A cooling gel is often applied to the skin to help the laser penetrate more effectively and to cool the skin during the treatment.
  • Laser Treatment: The provider will use the laser device to deliver pulses of light to the targeted hair follicles. You may feel a sensation of heat or a slight sting during the process.
  • Post-Treatment Care: After the procedure, you may experience redness or swelling; these side effects are generally mild and temporary. Applying ice packs to the treated area can feel soothing. It is essential to avoid sun exposure and follow the post-treatment care instructions.
  • Multiple Sessions: Laser hair removal usually requires multiple sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The hair grows in different cycles, and the laser is most effective on actively growing hair.
Results can vary; many individuals experience permanent hair reduction, while others need periodic maintenance treatments.
