FAQs
Is laser tattoo removal painful?
Laser tattoo removal can be uncomfortable, with many describing the sensations similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Pain tolerance varies from person to person. At Bellamedica, we offer topical anesthetic, cooling devices, or local injections to minimize discomfort.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions required varies depending on several factors, including the size, location, color and age of the tattoo, as well as the inkdepth and your skin type. On average, it can take 5 to 15 sessions, spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal and the body flush away the ink particles.
Can all tattoos be removed?
Black in is the easiest to remove because it absorbs all laser wavelengths. Other colors can be more challenging and may require us to use a different laser with specific wavelengths. To effectively target the ink. Light blues and greens are often considered the hardest to remove, while the newer picosecond lasers have improved outcomes for a broader range of colors.
What are the risks or side effects
Common side effects include redness, swelling, blistering, and tenderness in the treated area. These typically resolve within a couple of weeks. Other potential risks include hypo/hyper-pigmentation, scarring, and infection. Choosing one of our experienced and qualified practitioners can minimize your risks.
How long after getting a tattoo can I have it removed?
It’s generally recommended to wait at least six months after getting a tattoo before attempting to have it removed. This waiting period allows the tattoo to heal fully and can lead to more effective removal.
